'Steel' - new exhibition opening at Palace Arts, Redcar

On Saturday 13th February we open a new exhibition in the Palace Arts rear gallery. 'Steel' could hardly be a more appropriately themed show for Redcar. We have work on loan from Kirkleatham Museum, and a variety of new work from local artists in a range of media. As a special feature of this exhibition, Alan Morley will effectively be moving his studio into the gallery and working on a newly commissioned painting. This will be a great opportunity to see a work in progress over a number of weeks and talk with the artist while he works.

All are warmly invited to the Private View on Sunday 14th February at which there will be a premier performance by Stormcrow of a newly written song inspired by an aged oak tree which, overlooking Redcar from Errington woods, has seen the waxing and waning of the steel industry...

Oak stands ancient in the earth

Grand be its bough and its girth

Sight of steel fades away

Ironstone has had its day
