Jesmond Agency @FlowDigitalLtd responds to rapid growth with brand overhaul

North East creative digital agency Flow, a specialist in web design and development,ecommerce, and digital marketing, has launched an ambitious brand overhaul designed tosustain long­term growth and strengthen its competitive edge. 

The company is yet to reach its second birthday, but it already counts prestigious brands suchas Hampden Park, Close House, Speedflex and Buff on its client list. Rapid expansion of theworkforce, from four to ten staff, recently motivated relocation to larger premises in Jesmond,Newcastle upon Tyne. 

Client Services Director Claire Armstrong, who has over 16 years of agency experience, led the project, and worked with Managing Director Adam McCrory to determine whereinvestment was required.

“Evolution of the business and its goals over the first two years necessitated a refocusedbrand strategy and identity. Flow developed so quickly that initial strategies simply weren’tkeeping up,” said Claire. 

The management team started with development of a new business plan, which outlinedshort­ and long­term goals. Adjustments were informed by real data and business experience,which weren’t available in the startup stages.

Revamping the website and logo was a priority. The in­house teams treated Flow as a client,with realistic resourcing keeping the project on track.

“We knew we had to practise what we preach. We looked at our brand image objectively, andcame away with a lot of suggestions for improvement. Now our logo and site are truereflections of our brand and the results we can deliver for clients,” said Adam.

The company hired a Digital Content Executive to improve the onsite content, and tostrengthen their digital marketing offering with copywriting and content marketing services.Claire believes this move will help attract new business.

“We can now offer end­to­end digital solutions to our clients. We already had talenteddevelopers, designers and digital marketers — content production was our only shortfall, butwe’ve now plugged that skill gap,” she said.

As well as reinventing its identity, Flow has launched new communication channels to helpincrease brand awareness and connect with potential clients. This includes a blog andenhanced social media presence.

The company has also seen great efficiency gains after optimising internal systems andprocesses. Staff trialled a number of tools to find the best fit for the business, and have beenusing resources more effectively as a result.

Adam said: “It’s exciting to see the new logo, website design, content, tools andcommunications strategy come together. Potential clients can now get a better idea of whatour creative agency is all about: achieving digital excellence through collaboration.

“We are already on track to double our turnover in 2015, and have plans to grow our teameven further in the coming months. Now that the rebrand project is completed, Flow is wellpositioned to be one of the North East’s leading digital agencies."
