The government has announced a£20 million fundand a new “Catalyst” team to operate at the heart of government to help tech firms deliver innovative fixes to public sector challenges. The new Catalyst team will act as a ‘front door’ to tech firms, giving them a clear access point where they can put forward their innovative ideas.
Tech firms bidding to the £20m fund will have free reign to create truly innovative fixes and those successful will receive funding to cover their research and development costs.
DigitalMinister, Rt Hon Matt Hancock said,"this new funding is an important part of our plans to make the UK the best place in the world to start and grow adigitalbusiness" and to position the UK as a world leader indigitalinnovation.”
DigitalLeadersChair, Jacqueline de Rojas said,"The Catalyst scheme will create a ‘front door’ into the public sector for tech businesses with exciting new ideas and solutions that would otherwise get lost."
